Sharon L. Marra
Bio
Sharon Marra serves as the deputy director for Operations at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). She is responsible for the executive leadership and daily management of over 1300 SRNL employees, as well as multiple laboratory programs. She leads SRNL in driving down safety and operational events and assures the laboratory’s role as one of the safest national laboratories in the Department of Energy (DOE). She works to assure cost effectiveness while the laboratory conducts its critical missions in support of its customers and the nation.
Marra has over 35 years of experience in engineering and research at the Savannah River Site and materials manufacturing industry. Prior to her role as deputy director, she held various director and management-level roles in technical leadership in chemical and environmental processing and compliance. In these roles, she oversaw the development and deployment of critical technologies to advance Environmental Management efforts, and other DOE missions.
Marra serves on the Ames National Laboratory Operations Review Committee, advising on operational performance plans and recommending best practices. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) and on the Aiken County Commission for Higher Education. She is a member of the Aiken Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is actively involved in Aiken community outreach projects on behalf of SRNL.
Marra is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has a Bachelor of Science in ceramic engineering from Alfred University.
