Bio

Gregory R. Cefus is the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), focusing on building and positioning the laboratory to achieve its strategic goals and objectives. He leads various initiatives driving efficient and effective operations and realizing continuous improvements.

Cefus previously served as the SRNL Deputy Associate Laboratory Director and Chief Operating Officer for Global Security. Prior to this, he served in various roles at SRNL, including Deputy Associate Laboratory Director for National Security, where he was responsible for program growth and execution across the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and other U.S. Government national security organizations. He also served in various other roles within the U.S. Government, including Director of NNSA’s Office of Global Radiological Threat Reduction, and Director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction and Asymmetric Threats Division in Department of Energy’s Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence.

Cefus is the recipient of the NNSA’s Administrators Award of Excellence for his exemplary service to NNSA, and he has received commendations for outstanding contributions and exceptional service to the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Cefus has a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.
