Record of Decision made by the Federal Government selecting glass as preferred waste form for High Level Waste; SRNL led the team providing the technical data to support the decision.

Construction begins on the Underground Counting Facility.
1985
786-A expanded to provide flow testing for reactor cooling systems; SRNL Underground Counting Facility (UCF) begins operations.
1989
Westinghouse takes over operations at SRS from DuPont.
